Our family tube room had two queen beds with a console between them. Each tube also has its own little garden with a table and bench, a comfortable place for four to sit and eat together. It’s a unique, no-frills setup. The bathroom is basic, but the hot shower, toilet, sink and drainage all worked. There’s no separate shower area, which is common in homes in Southeast Asia. A large Indomart is about a five-minute walk away, handy for late-night snacks or more drinking water. There’s also a mosque and a small warong across from it. It’s around 45 minutes from the national park entrance, so a bit far from Mount Bromo and base camp. The main downside was no kettle or tea-making setup. Hot water comes from a dispenser at reception, a walk downhill. That would have been fine if the little pantry around it had been clean, but unfortunately it wasn’t, so I couldn’t give the place five stars. I did enjoy my stay in this cabin.

A little bit of Hobbiton in Indonesia! The hotel was very good, with a clean room and really friendly service. It’s also well placed for exploring Mount Bromo.

The room was nice, and the bed and blanket were comfortable. There was just us and one other room’s guest when we visited, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The path is made of rocks and could be slippery in the rain, so watch your step. Night and early-morning temperatures were around 17 degrees. Breakfast was fried rice with egg and no meat, plus hot sweet tea, which was too sweet for me.

We didn’t stay long, but we were happy here. De Pipo’s caretaker was very helpful, and I loved the safe, beautiful garden full of trees and plants. The bed was comfortable too. The bathroom floor is always wet because the shower head is right before the toilet, so it can get slippery. Breakfast was a generous portion of fried rice and egg, and very delicious.
