Rostika Hotel Sekumpul

We had a clean room, a lovely view, and an easy trip to Sekumpul Waterfall. The restaurant food was delicious, but the tax was shockingly high, nearly 25%.

The food tasted good, but we paid around 25% extra in restaurant taxes, which I didn't like. The hotel itself was clean and good value, with a peaceful jungle feel and a great spot for sunset. The room was clean too, though you'll want insect repellent in the jungle. They can arrange waterfall trips and a driver.

Sekumpul and the waterfall forest are stunning, and the hotel's location in nature is lovely. You hear plenty of animals at night, and the staff were kind. The room was very ordinary and a bit dirty, including the bed linen. Staff made noise early in the morning, and taxi prices were expensive. The restaurant wasn't good either: the food was oily and poorly prepared. My orange juice was mostly water with a little orange in it. I wouldn't recommend staying here, though there's not much choice near Sekumpul.

The rooms were fine and the location was great, but the restaurant was a letdown across our two dinners and two breakfasts. We waited an hour each time, about half the menu wasn't available, and some of the food wasn't good. They didn't offer any lower price on the bill for these problems. At breakfast on the last day, we ordered pancakes and, after an hour, got one and a half undercooked pancakes instead of two. The half one was tucked under the full one.
