Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon

We only passed through for one night, and it was amazing. The beach was beautiful, the pool facilities were great, and we had delicious food at the Japanese restaurant followed by a lovely breakfast. Friendly staff and great service. We wished we could've stayed longer and would absolutely recommend it.

The people really made our stay. From reception to housekeeping and the restaurant, the staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to help. Their English was excellent, communication was easy, and they consistently went above and beyond. Grace, Edwina, Maulala, and Razi were among the people who showed us such wonderful hospitality. Credit to the management for building that service culture. The complimentary shuttle to and from the ferry terminal also made arriving and leaving simple. There was a lot of comfortable seating around the huge grounds, from sofas and armchairs to chaise lounges, day beds, and outdoor spots to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. The large pool works well for families and couples, and there's a small beach nearby where you can swim in the South China Sea. Chocolate Hour was a treat for all ages, and breakfast had an impressive spread of local and international food. At Port 19 Café, there was a wide choice of dishes with attractive presentation, but some of what we ate was dry, a little overcooked, and short on flavour. The landscaping was still maturing, and some parts of the grounds could use more development. The function facilities and spa were under construction during our visit. I enjoy spa treatments on holiday, so not having a fully operating spa made the experience feel a little incomplete. Once the landscaping and facilities are finished, the resort has the potential to be an even more outstanding destination on Bintan Island. As it is, it's already a comfortable place, with spacious rooms, excellent service, a beautiful pool area, and plenty of places to relax.

I was keen to try this newly opened hotel after having a great stay at another Mövenpick property. The staff were pleasant and very helpful, from making the reservation through the whole visit. There's still quite a bit of work going on, but it's exciting to see what's planned. I'll look forward to coming back once the grand opening has happened and all the facilities are running. For a laid-back resort break or a simple getaway, it's more than good enough for a 2D1N for now.

The food and staff were as good as anything I've experienced in 40 years of travelling around the world. The international food and the fantastic service from the team were neck and neck. The resort is in a beautiful location, and the whole experience was amazing. I'm so glad we made the trip from Singapore and spent three nights here. We didn't want to leave. A huge credit to Mr. Doni, the General Manager, and his team.
