Kirana Retreat

We only had one night here, but I’d happily return. The beachfront huts are cozy, the outdoor shower was a favorite, and there are plenty of spots to relax along the nice path to the rooms. We arrived after a long trip and the owner welcomed us and took great care of us. The staff were lovely, especially rocky. The setting feels like a paradise, with animals around and cliffs, rocks, beaches, and jungle all nearby. The sister resort is stunning too. See you again soon, and thank you Kini & Kirana.

The scenery is beautiful, but that was the only thing we liked. We booked seven rooms for three nights, and the stay wasn’t worth the four-hour drive from the airport. Cleanliness was a serious problem. The rooms were dirty and dusty, with ants, bugs, and insects around. I understand the nature concept, but this felt like poor hygiene, not just nature. The sheets looked used and had disgusting stains. We came away with insect and bed bug bites and scars. On our first morning, room cleaning didn’t happen until late afternoon. We asked five times, and it only got done after we spoke to the manager. The paths to the rooms were overgrown, with untrimmed grass that made them hard to walk through. Requests such as towels took ages or were ignored, and the staff weren’t friendly. Other guests we spoke with had the same complaints. The place has potential because of its setting, but it’s badly maintained.

There’s a great view and a genuinely good concept here, so it’s a shame the basics fell short. I got bedbugs in my room, and my skin started reacting badly just after I landed in Bali. The rooms didn’t seem properly cleaned or sterilized, and the hygiene and quality control were seriously questionable. From arrival, the manager was cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. I felt completely unwelcome. A few crew members were decent, but that was the only positive for me. This was an awful and disgusting experience. Management needs to improve its standards and sterilize the rooms before having guests stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We left today feeling rested, restored, and peaceful, though we wished we could have stayed longer. On our last afternoon, Henry took us to the Kini Resort for dinner at the Sapphire restaurant, overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve seen. The staff were kind and helpful throughout our three amazing days at Kirana retreat. Henry and his lovely wife Elsa were especially attentive and couldn’t have been kinder. They arranged a wonderful wild BBQ for our final night, with fish, salads, prawns, octopus, vegetables, and lots of different fruits. We were in caring, safe hands from the moment we were collected at Lombok airport to connect with the boat. We chose the cabin style accommodation, and the beds, pillows, and amenities were all a high standard. After a lovely morning walk along the beach to the Kini resort and some yoga, we asked Henry to arrange massages for us. He sorted it quickly, and the masseur worked wonders on Rasmini’s long-standing leg issues. They now seem healed, and she’s walking easily and without pain. We’ll be back! Rasmini and Sue 😍😍
