The location is exceptional, and you can walk to get anything you might have forgotten. But the room was unclean and the AC didn't work. There are fines for everything, so take photos of the room as soon as you arrive. Be especially careful to document spots on the white goods, or you could be fined even for marks you didn't make. The walls were so thin I could hear practically everything outside my room. I didn't feel safe and left as soon as I woke up the next morning.

We booked two Superior Twin Rooms for a family stay at Gold Hotel Semarang. The short walk to Ciputra Mall made meals and shopping with the kids easy, and the fast, reliable Wi-Fi and smart TVs with Netflix were handy. Both rooms were clean, modern, and compact, just right for a short trip. The hotel is new and well cared for. Parking space is limited, but we had a comfortable stay and would come back to Semarang.

The rest of the stay was perfect, but I was a little disappointed with the room. I booked a 20 m² Superior and got something quite cramped. I think it may have been a Deluxe room.

A couple of things should be added: a qibla direction sign and at least two keys for each room. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, though the rooms weren’t very spacious. The location is very central in Semarang, just a few minutes’ walk from Simpang Lima.

There was quite a bit of dust left on the floor, so the room cleaning could be better. The hotel itself is in a very convenient spot, with tourist attractions close enough to walk to.
