Hotel Candi Indah - Akpol Semarang

I stayed on Tuesday, Nov 18, because I needed massage therapy for my spine. I'd been there the previous Christmas and was quite impressed, so I contacted the hotel about rates. I was quoted IDR 385.000 with breakfast for 2 people, or 300.000 without breakfast. The staff said I'd paid 330.000 with breakfast for one person last year and called that the best price. I wasn't sure, since I'd received an offer in August 2025 for a room only at IDR 285.000, but I agreed. After paying, I went to room 208. The shower button was a little broken, though I managed to fix it. Then I noticed there was just one bottle of cleo and one towel. Last year I'd received two bottles and two towels. The tea maker was quite big, so one bottle wasn't enough to make tea and have plain water too. And the towel hanger was right in front of the shower, meaning the towel would get wet when you showered. I raised this with the front office. I said that if I'd paid IDR 300.000, I'd expect two bottles of mineral water and two towels, since that price was for the room and didn't depend on how many people stayed. The staff agreed, and said I could even get a lower price than IDR 300.000 for a room only stay for one person. But I'd already paid, so they couldn't change it. Why hadn't they explained that beforehand? I could have gone out to buy another bottle, but that's not the point. Last year, they told me I'd paid idr 330.000 and got two amenities, as at other hotels. The staff said the rules had changed. Now, it was 2025 and the room only price was 300.000. But in August I'd been offered room only for idr 285.000, or 385.000 with breakfast for two. If there's no breakfast, two of all the amenities should be provided. I paid more for breakfast and got only one amenity. They should have explained that first. This is about honesty, not just money. They should make it clear what a room for one person costs, with and without breakfast, instead of making it ambiguous. There were other problems too. I could smell cigarette smoke in my room even though they'd said all rooms were non-smoking. When I was checking out, I asked for someone to help carry my luggage downstairs. I didn't need a trolley, just one person. Nobody came, and my online driver was already waiting. I was rushing to catch the train and only saw a staff member once I was in the lobby. I know the hotel was quite full, but if that's the case, the CEO or owner should add staff. The reception should show more empathy when a customer asks for help at checkout. Please fix the shower button in the bathroom. The "knobb" was broken, so it was hard to switch from the shower to just "washing your feet", and back again. Thank you.
