The staff were nice, but communication in English was tough. We had to rely on gestures and body language. The hotel's location is probably its best feature: about a five-minute walk to Tawang train station, convenient for trips to Jakarta or Surabaya, and also five minutes from the old town's restaurants and coffee shops. The rehabilitated Ara is a bit pricey, which I guess helps explain why this hotel costs more than similar places around Java. We stayed in a deluxe room with a private bathroom. The hotel was clean, though not sparkling, and the sheets were clean too. Rooms had Aircon, and there was free tea, coffee, and water in the corridor, along with toiletries and a small breakfast snack.

The location stands out, and the parking area can fit two or more large buses. For such a low price, the stay was convenient, with enough space in both the room and bed. Cleanliness was moderate. Hot water was available, though the shower ran quite slowly. I'd consider staying here again.

The location is very strategic, and for the price it was okay. The hotel was fairly clean, but the small wardrobe was broken, as was the one in the shower room.

We picked the cheapest room, which had just two beds and a table. The architecture was lovely, but the mattress was very worn, the walls were thin, and the toilet and shower were outside the room. Recommended at this price.

The price was reasonable, and the hotel is clean, with a water dispenser on every floor. It’s in Kota Lama, about a two-minute walk from the train station. Keep the windows and door shut, though, or mosquitoes can get in.
