Louis Kienne Hotel Pandanaran

The staff were super responsive when I called about the sink draining straight onto the floor, and the reception team was very nice when I checked in around 5 pm. Checking out also went smoothly. But there was nobody at the door to help open it or get the taxi I ordered, even though I had bags. Other parts of the stay were uncomfortable. The lobby was very hot, and even the staff agreed when I mentioned it. The lift was dusty, made odd noises, and often went up to the 24th floor on its own, even after I selected my room floor. I could also hear people in the opposite rooms. The shower temperature was hard to control. It was too hot, and I couldn't get it to a warm setting. Breakfast was poor: very few choices, unattractive table settings, oversized chairs, and little variety. The food was bland, and the same menu was served both days. I barely ate, just taking boiled eggs. The black sticky rice porridge was too watery, and there wasn't much to choose from. They had soto Semarang both days, but I didn't dare try it.

The elevators could use attention because they make a bit of a rattling sound. Parking can be somewhat difficult, though that's understandable since the property shares space with apartments. Otherwise, things were good, and the location is great and easy to reach.

The room had a great view of Tugu Muda Semarang, which was a real plus. The food was typical but delicious, though I expected more menu choices. The staff weren't very friendly for a four-star hotel.

It's clean and comfortable, so I felt cozy here. The hotel is in a strategic spot in Semarang, and I'd recommend it as a place to stay.
