Mahima Hotel

A stylish, artsy place in West Semarang with roomy rooms and plenty of parking. Breakfast has lots to choose from, and the food and drinks were delicious. The staff were really helpful too.

The room is spacious and the design and setting feel cozy, so I’d recommend it. The food was only so-so, though, and you only get two bottles of water per day. They charge if you ask for more. There still isn’t a swimming pool.

I really like how much thought went into the monochrome, elegant theme. Even small things like the side lamps and electrical outlets were picked to fit it. The design isn’t perfect, but the service was lovely and the restaurant prices were very reasonable. I’d definitely stay again if I get the chance to visit.

The main catch is how few rooms there are. Book a day ahead if you want to stay, since it’s often full. Room prices vary quite a bit, but Superior or Deluxe should be enough for a comfortable stay. I wouldn’t go for the Suite, since I don’t think a suite makes much sense at a three-star hotel. That said, this is the best value hotel I’ve found in Central Java. The welcome was very friendly, with three staff greeting us, and rates on different online platforms are affordable. The room was clean and spacious, the AC was cold, and there’s lots of parking. The food was really good, like eating at a hotel such as Marriott or Tentrem. You might even spot BMWs and Mercedes in the lot, haha. The guests seemed like upper middle class people looking for a homely staycation, rather than the sort of guys who hang out at mostly under-three-star hotels. Oops. The look is luxurious, with a minimal and futuristic feel, and the place is comfortable enough to feel like home. Room service runs online 24 hours and responds fast, with food arriving quickly. I still really recommend staying here.
