Hotel O Ujung Samalas HomestayNearLapangan Sembalun Bumbung

The place in question is Villa Strawberry, not Gemilang. I’d booked and paid through Agoda, but when I arrived, the owner said it wasn’t Gemilang, it was Villa Strawberry, and that they no longer worked with Agoda, booking.com, Blue Fillow, or the other listed platforms. He said he didn’t know about my booking and called them all hackers. Why are prices still being listed across social media if the partnership has ended? The price I was quoted there was very different. I understand that rooms in Puncak Sembalun can be quite expensive, but people are using online platforms such as Google and Google Maps. I feel bad for anyone else who books online and is then told the hotel knows nothing about it. Beware of fraud.

I booked through the Agoda app, then saw the reviews here and started doubting that the price could really be that low, especially at the peak of Pusuk Sembalun. Luckily I cancelled and got my money back without any deductions. Otherwise, beware of this fraud!

When I arrived, the hotel said it didn’t take bookings through Agoda and asked me to cancel. This was after I’d paid in the Agoda app for OYO 91744 Hotel Gemilang in Sembalun, West Nusa Tenggara, on April 24, 2023. The hotel gave me contact details for Agoda customer service in the NTB region, but nobody responded when I reached out, and my contact details have been blocked.

The hotel shown in the photo is Villa Strawberry Sembalun. It’s in the center of Sembalun, not at this location.
