The villa has spacious grounds, but it’s run down and we had a lot of problems. The pool was green with slime and algae. I told the pool cleaner, but the water only started improving near the end of our stay. There were ants, mosquitoes, and bugs throughout the house, making it very uncomfortable. The beds and pillows were rock hard. It was the worst sleep I’ve had on holiday, and I’ve taken hundreds of trips. The villa is remote and near the beach, but the beach and surrounding area were covered in plastic, and the local water was extremely polluted. Two rivers run into the sea on either side of the villas. Locals use them as toilets, so the water is very polluted and swimming or going to the beach is out of the question. You can’t walk along the beach either because the rivers block the way. The villa is next to a local Muslim village, and during Ramadan we heard prayers all night from the nearby mosque’s very loud speakers. The polluted sea, dirty beach, unclean pool, insects, hard beds, and night-time chanting made this the worst location. Save your sanity and go somewhere else.

The villas are very clean, and the employees are friendly. From your own terrace, there are lovely views over the sea and garden, and the private cook can prepare whatever you want. The swimming pool is especially nice for a dip at the end of the day, and you can watch the sunrise with a drink in hand. North Cape Beach Villas is a great place to relax, perhaps at the end of a trip around Bali. If you want a private villa, book one here.

We were sad to leave. It’s a beautiful, quiet spot with a touch of luxury, and the staff are always available and very helpful. The villa is large and comfortable, with A/C in each bedroom. Our hostess cooked tasty meals, buying food with our money as needed and providing receipts. The property is somewhat isolated, but transport for day trips can be arranged at short notice. You get a glimpse of the 'real bali', with fewer tourists and more local people. The villa could use a little maintenance, but it’s easy to live in and a lovely place to relax.

We spent our first week of a four-week Bali trip here, looking for somewhere quiet where the kids could swim and we could unwind. The private pool was big, and all four bedrooms had ensuite bathrooms. We didn’t realize the villa came with an attendant who fetched groceries, cooked, cleaned, washed up, and did the housekeeping. It was a great extra. The meals were home-style rather than fancy, and the service let mom and dad focus on the kids and take it easy. The villas are a mile and a half from the main road, so you’ll need a driver or scooter to get into town, though the attendant can pick up groceries and other necessities. Dad rented a scooter and took the kids on daily rides around the area. They loved it, and we all had a lovely stay.

The place is nice and affordable for families, but it’s a long way from everything, and every ride in their car costs extra. The food was terrible. The housekeepers and cook finish at 3pm, so if you ask for dinner, they cook it earlier and leave it sitting out in the heat until it goes soggy and smells bad. I wouldn’t risk getting Bali belly from it. When I ran out of toilet paper, they didn’t bring more, so I had to buy my own. The towels looked dirty and felt hard. The helper was unfriendly and tried to overcharge us when she asked for money to make dinner. There were plenty of other problems too. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.
