Villa Damai

The owner messaged us a month after we left Damai Villa, demanding 600 euros for alleged damage and threatening to report us to the police. He had personally checked the place when we departed and returned the rest of our deposit. Some of the photos he later sent showed minor things we might have missed, like a mark on a napkin, but we definitely did not break the fan above the grill. I asked him to be honest and send prices for repairs or replacements, then he stopped replying. The villa itself seemed old and poorly insulated, though the grounds were pleasant and looked after. Wi-Fi and mobile data were both very poor, and the villa is far from town. The pool is large, but there were little biting bugs in the water. The beach is just beyond the gate, but swimming wasn't possible for us: sharp stones covered the bottom, the waves were constant, the water wasn't clear, and plastic waste floated around. Flies came out in the afternoon and mosquitoes in the evening, and creams or sprays didn't help. The owner's angry, aggressive manner also made the whole place feel unpleasant. We left feeling our vacation had been turned into a horror story.

For a private, nature-filled holiday, this villa felt like great value. It's right on the beachfront, with a clean beach and calm water just outside. The property was very clean too, and the staff were friendly and pleasant.

The water in the house made my whole family sick. My child got a high fever, so we had to leave early, and the owner gave us no refund.

We were shocked to discover hidden cameras throughout the property. It felt like the owner was watching us the whole time.
