Villa Saffraan

The staff are the reason I keep coming back. They're kind, helpful, friendly, and truly remarkable. The owner is lovely and does his best to make sure your stay goes well. We loved the house and fantastic pool, including its shallow section for little kids. The villa sits right by the beach, with amazing views, and the Lovina area is full of welcoming, genuine people. The drive from the airport can take 3-3.5 hours, so it feels like a long way at first, but it was worth it. Putu, the driver, is a lovely, helpful man. You can stop on the way, and I recommend the coffee plantation, chocolate factory, temples and rice fields. Suci and Ida make breakfast every morning and will try to get whatever you ask for. For a small fee plus the cost of the food, they can also cook wonderful meals, which worked out much cheaper than eating out each night. It was convenient with my kids, since I could put them to bed without worrying they'd get tired. Suci even helped us get a cake for my dad's birthday. There's lots to do, including a water park, dolphin snorkeling and a day trip to Menjangan island. A gardener quietly keeps the pool and grounds clean each morning. Komang, the security guard, became my children's best friend, taking them to play on the beach at 6pm and finding crabs for them. He's also handy in an emergency. When my daughter got sick at 10pm, he had a doctor there within 20 minutes.

My family booked Villa Saffraan for a reunion four months ahead, without my knowing. Soon after, we found out about the pregnancy, and it was clear we wouldn't risk travelling at six months pregnant, so we had to change our plans. The trip was still more than three months away, but there was no cooperation over the cancellation. They kept 50% of the deposit, more than $1,600. We run a short-stay business ourselves, so we understand a no-refund policy, but with that much notice, the lack of flexibility felt completely unacceptable to me. We would have liked to take the trip later and use the payment as credit, but we won't be doing that now. We didn't get to experience Villa Saffraan, and the customer service was highly disappointing.

A perfect base for a few days exploring northern Bali. The service, breakfast and surrounding views were all great. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏
