My Studio Hotel Juanda Airport Surabaya - Hostel

The only thing that looked clean was the bed. The lockers don't work, and what they sell as a “3 bed studio” is actually three beds in a dorm with 40 beds. The bathroom smells like pee that's been there for months. Despite the name, this isn't at the airport. I wouldn't stay unless all I needed was somewhere to sleep between flights and I had no reason at all to leave the dorm.

The beds or pods themselves were solid, and there was free water and toast for breakfast, but the facilities were awful. A room with 20-30 pods had one toilet, which was always occupied, so I had to use the one by reception. Two of the three showers were broken, and people were peeing down the drains in those. I accidentally booked a bed twice, but the owner wouldn't refund me. Staff were somewhat helpful, though they didn't even have a working phone on site. Avoid it if you can. Absolute dump.

The reception staff were nice, and the A/C ran 24 hours. They offered to keep guests' things at reception, but I didn't feel comfortable leaving my belongings or giving up my privacy. I booked a dormitory studio and arrived to find no locker, even though the picture showed one. All the studios with more than 20 beds apparently have their lockers disabled. It's cheap, but there's no security, and the place seems to care about money more than guests' basic safety. Maybe it's fine for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer unless you want to risk having your things stolen. They won't take basic responsibility. Next time, maybe ask them to leave the house door open and see what happens.

The location is good and the price is cheap, but I wouldn't stay here again. The facilities were dirty, lockers were broken, and staff told me to leave valuables at reception. The staff seemed incompetent, and management was poor: when I tried to complain, the manager said they were "too busy" to deal with a common guest problem. Even Agoda couldn't reach them about my concerns. I had reserved a room, but when I arrived they put me in a 40-bed dorm instead. I showed them their written confirmation for a single room, and they still blamed me and made excuses for their mistake. The facilities are dirty and don't work properly. I'd rather pay more than stay in this dump again.
