Apollo hostel

We had fun staying at Apollo hostel, and I’d come back. It’s near the beacj, warungs, and bars, with free drinking water inside. Our room and bathroom were clean. The owner was kind and gave us lots of information about Lovina, plus help with tours and transport. We even played domino with him.

The beds were simple but surprisingly comfortable, and the two-bed room was reasonably clean. There’s a nice view at the back, though the pool was dirty. The bathroom had roaches and the shower wasn’t appealing. The owner is welcoming enough, but gets a little aggressive if you don’t want to book activities. It was very hot at night even with the fan. Lockers are too small for bags over 35L, and the doors don’t really lock. It’s very cheap, and you can see why.

The host makes you feel like family, and the stay was so welcoming. It’s close to the beach, with air conditioning and comfy beds. He also offers lovely tour guides 🌴🌊🏖️

MeVui, the Vietnamese restaurant around the corner, was incredible. We ate there three times. At the guesthouse, everything is basic and a bit dirty, but it’s mega cheap, so set your expectations accordingly. I had the upstairs single room. It was the hottest room in the house until I turned on the recently fitted Aircon, which worked well. The bed is a small double, with a deep dent right in the middle. Sharing it, or sleeping anywhere but that dent, might be uncomfortable. My friends had the downstairs twin room with a fan and thought it was decent, though one bed was a bit wonky. The owner was friendly and didn’t push too hard for us to book the dolphin trip, though he clearly gets a kickback. There’s no hot shower water. We tried the 'breakfast', fried banana. It was cold, and I couldn’t tell when it had been fried or who made it, but it tasted good.
