Summer Guesthouse Lovina

The location is good, the dorm was clean, and the staff were friendly. It felt like I might have been the only guest because I didn’t see anyone else, and the price seemed high compared with other hostels in the area. The dorm was basically a hotel room, but without curtains. I booked the dolphin tour through the hostel and chose the bigger one. It was cool, though you should expect lots and lots of other boats on the tour.

The rooms were clean and nice, and they had a cute dog, but the welcome was awful. The owners or reception staff were rude and tried to get us to cancel our dolphin trip and book theirs. They said they could only help arrange a taxi if we joined their tour. We were also charged for an extra night after checking out slightly late, and that cost more than our first night. They don't answer emails.

Right in Lovina, this family-run place was clean and near good restaurants, with the beach a brisk walk away. We felt at home, and the family helped us sort out transport and day trips. The big pool was a lovely bonus, as were the puppies.

We only stayed one night, but it was the cleanest, most comfortable hostel we found in Lovina. The owners were friendly and helpful, and when we felt uneasy walking at night, their sons came along with us. Tours are inexpensive too. The beach, Warungs, and shops are all about a five-minute walk away, and it really felt like a place to settle in and enjoy ourselves.
