Hotel Kyodai Singkawang

The Japanese design was so unique that I ended up loving this hotel more than I expected. I had an executive room with a clean bathroom and an amazing, fresh, clean bed. Most of all, the staff were the best, so friendly and accommodating, whether cleaning my room or fixing a deposit mistake. This is the best hotel in Singkawang, and I’d definitely recommend it. Make sure to pick a room with a window. I wish I could give it six or even ten stars!

We had a really disappointing stay and I’d never recommend this hotel. It wasn’t clean at all: there were stains on the bedsheets, the stairs were very dirty, and the toilet bowl was so filthy we had to ask room service, meaning the receptionist, to clean it. The power failed multiple times through the night, which was especially bad with kids along. The aircon leaked too, and they gave us a basin to catch the water.

I booked an executive room on the second floor. The design was nice, but the bed sheet was dusty and dirty, and toilet water overflowed, which was disgusting. I couldn't even shower. They offered another room, but it had clearly been used and not cleaned after checkout. Its toilet was stuck too.

The lobby on the first floor and the deluxe rooms give a good first impression, but there are quite a few problems. My room, 106, and a deluxe room both had a flickering lamp. There was lots of dust and staining on the beds, and the toothbrushes were poor quality. One relative said bristles fell into the sink. The first-floor shower room had no soap stand. I also found more mosquitoes than I usually encounter in hotels. A clean-up sign before guests use the bed would be a good idea.
