Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta

Breakfast was okay, but the buffet felt a little limited in variety for a hotel of this standard. The rest of the experience was great. We stayed at Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta last month, and the staff were excellent from beginning to end, attentive and polite, and made us feel well cared for. Our room was huge, around 110 sqm, with a private pool. It felt spacious and luxurious, and the amenities and interior design matched what we paid. It is expensive, but you do get what you pay for. The space and pool were especially good for the kids, who had room to move around and stayed entertained throughout the stay. It’s a fantastic choice for a relaxing, private, family-friendly stay in Yogyakarta if space, comfort, and great service matter to you.

We stayed for two nights and had an amazing time. The view was beautiful, the service was excellent, and everything went beyond what I expected. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. We also got a complimentary photo session in traditional Yogyakarta attire, which was fun and memorable. I enjoyed every moment and would definitely love to come back!

After a hot day touring the temples, the private plunge pool was a welcome relief. My villa at Garrya was huge, with distinctive Indonesian-style furnishings, and the mini bar snacks and beverages were complimentary. It’s a tranquil oasis outside the busy city of Yogyakarta, a comfortable and stylish place to unwind, release, and revive. The staff are what set the property apart, so kind and accommodating. I especially want to mention Rian and Heymu (sp?), Guest Service Attendant, for their extra courtesy.

The sunset view villa was easily the best part, especially the room and its view. Getting there takes a little effort because Garrya Bianti is somewhat out of the way and the road is narrow, though manageable. Check-in took over an hour. After about 40 minutes, I asked what was taking so long and heard they were doing “final checks” and needed “five more minutes.” Fifteen minutes later, I was still waiting and wondering about their clock. They eventually offered a river-view villa as a complimentary upgrade after several complaints, even though it had the same layout and size as the room we booked and a worse view. My mother asked to see our original room just to check the view. At first, staff said it wasn't ready, but after we explained, a kind woman made a quick call and took us there. The room was clean and ready, which left us puzzled. We preferred that sunset view room and asked to stay in it. She agreed. I still don't know why it couldn't have been offered five minutes earlier. She also offered an extra bed at no charge, though getting everything sorted took two calls to the front desk. When I dropped my family at the lobby in heavy rain, a kind woman said a buggy would collect me from the outdoor parking area. After about ten minutes with no sign of it, I started walking with my umbrella. A buggy passed then, and the driver looked right at me. After the rain stopped, I called to ask for the outdoor chair cushion to be changed so we could sit outside. It was dark by the time I called again to remind them. There’s also a little red sign out front saying “MICHELIN 2025.” I’m not sure what that has to do with the place.
