The kids’ activities made my child happy. The room and service were good too.

Breakfast was tasty and had a nice range of choices, and I was lucky to get a connecting room, which can be hard to find at other hotels. The hotel has a classic feel, though some areas could use brighter lights. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mona, who welcomed us so warmly at breakfast and was really attentive. We had a pleasant stay.

The rooms are spacious and clean, with a bathtub. Service was friendly, and breakfast had a very wide range of options.

The housekeeping and service were a huge letdown at Grand Diamond Hotel Yogyakarta. Even after I specifically asked for the room to be cleaned, it was left untouched. Towels weren’t changed unless I tracked down staff myself, yet they still made upselling calls that disturbed guests. They seemed keen to sell more while missing the basics. Several facilities were closed: the executive lounge, lobby lounge, and gym. There wasn’t any bar either, so there was nowhere to get a drink and relax after a long day. Management also felt rigid, despite the place seeming half abandoned. My request to change rooms was denied, as was my request for a connecting room even though the room next door was vacant. It felt like the staff were making the stay as inconvenient as possible. I’ve traveled a lot and like trying local hotels, but I’ve never experienced anything this disgraceful. The neglect, poor management, and indifference were hard to miss. International travelers should steer clear. Avoid it unless you enjoy disappointment.
