The noise was awful. You can hear footsteps, and people in nearby rooms often laugh loudly. One night they even knocked on my door in the middle of the night to ask me to move the car. The room was cramped, and the service was confusing. I expected Sans Stay to be like the places in Jakarta and Bandung, but this one was completely different. It feels more like a very noisy boarding house than a hotel, despite hotel-like prices. The elevator also felt unsafe and poorly designed. It has no door of its own, just a manual door on each floor, leaving a wide gap where your feet could get caught if you stand too close. Think twice before staying here, it really wasn’t worth it. The elevator looks like something from a haunted house.

The bathroom on the fourth floor had no water at all, which was really disappointing. I booked through Agoda for two people. One of us checked in first and the other came later at checkout, but they still asked for an extra 50,000 rupiah even though the app booking was for two.

The rooms were clean, nice, and comfortable, and there’s an elevator. It’s in a handy spot along Yogyakarta-Solo Street. Awesome.

It’s well placed for getting around, close to souvenir shops, Gembira Loka, and Kotagede. Most importantly, it isn’t far from the city center.
