Sayana Homestay

The homestay is affordable, and the owner was quick and quite good at responding and communicating. But I had a disappointing stay and hope these issues can be addressed so other guests don’t feel the same way. The room floor felt sandy and dirty. The toilet smelled strongly of bleach, the dipper and bucket were moldy, and no tissues or toiletries were provided. I used my own bedsheet. The app also didn’t make clear whether the bathroom was private or shared. I was unhappy with the caretaker’s behavior. She was friendly on the first day, then very rude on the second. I assume it changed after I raised the bedsheet issue directly with the owner. As I passed by, she spoke negatively to other people about me asking for a bedsheet change. Maybe she thought I didn’t understand Javanese. On the second day, I politely asked if the towels could be changed. I wasn’t demanding anything, but she complained repeatedly and told me to check outside myself to see if the towels were still wet. If none were available, she could have just told me without being so rude. It made us feel unwelcome in her home, even though we’d paid for three nights, not just one. The experience felt disrespectful, regardless of her age.
