For a trip to Yogyakarta, Ubu Villa California is a great place to stay. The service was excellent, and everything was clean, tidy, and well equipped.

A nice option for families: a two-bedroom villa with a private pool, tasteful decor, and clean, complete amenities. You can cook here, too. Ms. Lita, the housekeeper, was kind, responsive, and consistently gave excellent service. Recommended.

The first impression was good, but the Wi-Fi problem made this a really unpleasant stay. We were there from Friday night, November 21st, until Sunday afternoon. On Saturday evening, after coming back from Malioboro, I found the Wi-Fi was out and notified the admin around 6 PM. He took about 30 minutes to reply, and the “Abs” was gone. There was still no update by 8 PM, and I had to ask again to get an answer. Only then did he say he’d contact a technician, who couldn’t come right away and was expected around 10 PM. Would anyone expect a technician to come at night? The admin apologized but offered no real solution. By 7:45 the next morning, we still hadn’t heard anything. I asked again, and only then got a reply. It felt like there was no real effort to solve it. After 12 hours without a fix, I was told around 8 that the technician was on the way and would take an hour to arrive. In fact, he showed up at 10. Where was he coming from, Semarang? The Wi-Fi came back, then at 10:30 the lights went out and it cut off again. Luckily the Abs came back on. It took 16 hours to fix the Wi-Fi outage. I’m blacklisting all Ubu properties from my vacation recommendations. Please don’t keep apologizing and then go quiet without taking action. Maybe this will be fixed for other guests who still want to stay, but for me it’s my first and last time. Bye!
