Vega Hotel

The breakfast was good, with plenty of dishes and a nice outdoor area, and the staff were friendly. Still, that didn't make up for the problems in our room. The lobby looked presentable, but the rooms need attention: stains and scuffs covered the walls and ceiling, and the bathroom caulk was moldy. A cockroach came through a crack in the tiles. The window latch was broken, so we couldn't close it and had to deal with noise, hot air, and mosquitoes. The AC was noisy and struggled to cool the room, though the open window may have contributed. Vega Prime really should do better.

That early breakfast was a lifesaver: it opens at 5 am, and the chicken soup was delicious. After three weeks in Raja Ampat eating rice two or three times a day with very few vegetables and just tea, coffee, or water, we badly wanted good food. Dinner was a buffet with lots of dishes and cakes at a very good price for hotel guests. There was fresh tuna, shrimp, crab, tom yum, dim sum, salad, and mango and guava juice. The restaurant staff spoke English and were so friendly, attentive, and professional. They clearly cared about guests enjoying the food and service. I especially liked the woman at the BBQ area. When I told her I was happy with the food, she asked about my room and what they could improve, and welcomed honest feedback. Our fifth-floor room was large and nice, with a good bed, clean bathroom, and strong hot shower. The hotel's photos are accurate. It was very close to the airport, which makes it a great choice for a night before going to Waisai or heading back to Bali. One note on our photos and videos: we took them around 9 pm, so some trays looked low, but they refill them very soon. We had a very good time. If I could give 100 stars, I would. Thanks so much, and we hope to return next year when we come back to Raja Ampat. Highly recommend!

This was our second stay, and the place has improved again. We were in the new block, which was excellent. Breakfast was a great buffet, and the dinner buffet at 150k was really good value. Quite a few staff now speak English for guests who don't speak Bahasa. A very good stay, and we'll come back.

The hotel is great value and an easy 10-minute walk from the airport. We were welcomed warmly as soon as we arrived, and the large rooms had everything needed for a good night's sleep: very comfortable beds, a good TV, quiet aircon, and a great shower. Breakfast had a broad range of choices, and there was a nice pool with a bar serving cold beer on tap. For early arrivals or late flights, there's a room where you can relax. They even called our room to ask if we wanted a free late checkout, and gave us a traditional local snack when we left. I'd recommend it completely, especially before or after a trip to Raja Ampat.
