Villa Selonding Batu

The sunset from the infinity pool is hard to beat, and the property itself is gorgeous. We stayed five nights for a family vacation in the horse and panther rooms. The villas, gardens, and grounds are beautifully designed, and the rooms were comfortable. Rizma and our driver Yudik deserve a special mention. The hotel helped arrange day trips to Munduk and dolphin watching in Lovina, and it was easy enough to get into town for more food choices. The restaurant menu was limited, but the Indonesian food was excellent. We especially liked the fresh banana juices, spring rolls, and nasi campur. A few things could have made the stay even better. Breakfast arrived all at once, and we would have liked coffee and water first while the food was being prepared. We didn’t bring yoga mats and would have loved to do yoga on the balcony or by the pool, so having mats there, perhaps with an on-call instructor, would be lovely. The jungle sounds can get a bit noisy, so bring earplugs if you have them.

The surroundings are peaceful, the views are lovely, and the room is spacious. The food and breakfast were good too, and the location is accessible. About the previous one-star review, it says the driver caused trouble. It seems that person gives one star for every issue they have because of a misunderstanding.

We were sad to leave and will always be grateful for this stay. From the moment we arrived, the people here made us feel at home. Everyone was caring and quick to help with whatever we asked, and that’s what made this the best place we’ve ever stayed, even though we travel a lot. We appreciated all of you, from reception and the people opening the gate to the kitchen team, gardeners, and massage therapists. Risma, Bagas, Yudi, thank you! You can feel how much thought and work went into planning, designing, and building the property, and the people who look after it every day bring such good energy. The owners did a wonderful job. We noticed all the beautiful paintings and details, and after the girls showed us the book, we saw everything differently. Breakfast was delicious and generous, and our rooms were cleaned perfectly. If you spot a bug, try to remember you’re in nature! The strawberry cocktails with arak and rum, no vodka, tasted like heaven. We had one almost every day. Check the pictures, and thank you, Risma, for taking our breakfast photo. You made us look great! The view is breathtaking, but the place’s people are the best part. As soon as we arrived, it felt like the power of nature took over and left us so relaxed. Getting here was the one hard part. We hope the roads improve. Don’t try driving up unless you’re very skilled on steep, narrow, slippery mountain roads. Otherwise, let them do it :)) We love you all!

The hilltop pool is clean, big enough for proper laps, and looks out across the valley. Rooms are spacious, with huge comfortable beds and large balconies furnished with sofas. The resort is a lovely boutique spot in the hills behind Lovina Beach. Staff are thoughtful and attentive, and there’s lovely food available. If you want to eat out, you can take the buggy into town. Lovina is a 5km stroll, all downhill, and the hotel staff will pick you up for the return trip. Sounds from the valley can carry up around dawn and dusk, including cockerels, motorbikes, dogs, and temples. Light sleepers should bring earplugs.
