Tosan Hotel

The breakfast was the weak spot. Some buffet dishes had run out, the omelettes were small, messy when cut, and oddly not salty, and the cereal had to wait for milk to arrive. The location worked well for us, with restaurants and a shopping centre nearby in Solo Baru, though getting to central Surakarta takes a car ride. We booked at the last minute by phone and the only room left was the largest one. It turned out to be enormous and felt homelike despite its vintage look. There were two bathrooms, a big bed and TV, a living area with a sofa, two couches and a small table, plus a desk and chair, a large mirror, a dining table with four chairs, two paintings, and two working doors. The bathrooms were clean. One air conditioner kept the whole space very cold. The minibar snacks and drinks were free, and there was a kettle and two glasses. Staff helped put a pillow back on the trolley after it fell. The parking area was full, so we used another larger lot outside the hotel and walked over. At Rp. 1.000.000, I thought the room was a great deal for its size and comfort, especially with all those amenities. Room and location were excellent, service was good, breakfast only average.
