Arimbi Stay Surabaya

The management really let this place down, even though I thought it had a decent hotel concept. I was exhausted and just wanted to rest after mold had affected my own place, but the third-floor standard room was a mess. The corridors were dark, the lighting was really dim, and dirty used sheets and towels had been left by the elevator. Then I lay down and got bed bugs. I was woken up by them crawling on my feet and all over my face. There was also a line of ants along the wall and suspicious stains on the sheets. I couldn’t bring myself to complain that day because I thought maybe I was imagining it. Honestly, the place itself could be good, but in my opinion the management is really bad.

The room was roomy, with a separate guest area, and the air conditioning was positioned well and worked properly. I stayed one night in a double room in September 2022, and the experience was decent, with hardly any issues. The bathroom was clean but cramped. Parking is limited and shared with the cafe downstairs. The toilet is oddly placed facing a column, leaving no knee room for anyone over 170cm tall. The main reason to choose this place at this price is its proximity to SMAN 15 Surabaya. It’s also just across from a prominent government office, but otherwise the place doesn’t seem to have much character.

The rooms are clean, and there’s a nice cafe on the ground floor. For a short stay it’s a nice place, but remember the 20% tax. They keep your ID as a guarantee, and check-in is at 2 pm, so don’t expect to get in earlier. You can wait in the lobby.

The bed was comfortable, but the sheets were old, stained, and torn. The bathroom was tiny, damp-smelling, and dirty, with no sink, soap, or toilet paper. The staff spoke very little English and didn’t tell us the Wi-Fi password or checkout time. They assigned us to the fifth floor, which has no Wi-Fi. Other reviews mention this, and the staff know about it, so why put guests up there?
