Life Emerald Hotel Surabaya

The staff were all nice and helpful, and the room’s design and decor were lovely. Mine had no windows, though. The food was decent, and the price is affordable for a budget hotel with a nice room. I didn’t realize until late on the second evening that I had to ask the receptionist or housekeeping to clean the room. I’d waited a long time for someone to come, then called and found out they don’t enter without the guest’s permission or knowledge. I understand every hotel has its own SOP, and that’s fine, but guests should be told beforehand so there’s no misunderstanding. The internet was unstable at times. I was on the second floor, and it was noisy from morning until night. I could hear people talking and walking around inside my room, going to and from the restaurant, or possibly just hanging out in the corridor, including kids. I’d really expected a quiet room.

For a budget stay, this place is recommended. I paid IDR 300k for a weekend night. The room was fairly spacious with modern interiors, and the cable TV channels were good. It was clean and inexpensive, though they didn’t provide slippers. Overall, it was okay.

The room was quite large but not very clean, and the slippers they left were used and dirty. People were smoking in the corridor and the smoke came into my room. I called reception, and they said they’d deal with it. The woman at reception was kind and friendly, but very slow. I ordered lemon tea from room service, and it tasted more like instant powder than fresh lemon tea 😑

Got upgraded to a deluxe room. Good!
