Grand Darmo Suite by AMITHYA

The room had an old design and a microwave, but it felt gloomy. The lobby is tiny, and during high season it gets so full there's nowhere to wait or sit. Part of the wall fell down twice and hit me and my son. Luckily neither of us was injured, but it hit my son's head hard. The staff didn't help much, and the dust was still on the floor the next day.

For the price, the room was cozy enough, but the shower cap should be checked to make sure it's actually there. The AC wasn't cold enough at first, though I appreciate that the technician fixed it at 9:45 p.m. The sink in room 103 was clogged. My main complaint is how management handled the damage to our car while it was valet parked. They said we had to use valet because a food stall was occupying the parking lot, and we agreed. Less than two hours later, during rush hour, we asked for the car back. It was parked at an angle on the road leading to the lobby, with the engine running. When we tried to start it, it wouldn't respond. We asked the hotel what they'd done to it, and they tried to fix it themselves without a mechanic. We asked them to call a mechanic, and they agreed. After we got back from our walk, management called us in and, long story short, we had to pay for the mechanic. Our schedule was delayed and we were exhausted, but we agreed. No compensation, no goodwill, no alternatives offered. Nothing.

We stayed one night for a short visit, and the service was great. We hadn't realized we'd need to ask the front office for towels even though we'd booked a deluxe suite, hehe. Still, the staff were really nice and helpful throughout.

Really great hotel, I'd recommend it for business trips or a staycation. I heard they have a spa, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe next time I'm staying nearby.
