A quick check-in and a 100k deposit, with NFC cards for the room keys. I paid IDR 150k for one bedroom for two guests, and the price was good for a short trip where you just need a shower and a bed. There are three floors and only stairs. The corridors were dim and looked old. My room had enough space, a big mirror, and a TV with a clear picture. The bed was okay and reasonably clean, and the decor was fine, though the furniture seemed old and flimsy. The AC was on but didn’t work very well. The bathroom was a bit rough too, with a slow shower that didn’t work properly and was dirty.
The WiFi worked really well, and the place is comfortable, fairly spacious, quiet, and affordable. It’s also reasonably close to the city center. I’ve stayed here several times, and the room quality and service have been inconsistent. My first two stays were decent, with clean rooms and good facilities. Later visits were much worse, with dirty floors, poor hospitality, and lower quality rooms and service. They should improve how they clean the rooms, floors, and linens.
I stayed for almost a month, and the staff were efficient and very accommodating. It’s one of the few affordable hotels where the receptionists and manager speak English. The rooms were spacious, with clean sheets and towels, and the bathroom was clean with a working water heater. RSUD Dr. Soetomo is right across the street, City Malls are nearby, and there’s a cafe next to the hotel.
I’ve stayed here three times. The hotel is low cost and doesn’t have much natural light, but it’s really not bad. Just choose a downstairs room, since the hot water in the upstairs rooms doesn’t work.
Someone I didn’t know opened my room with a keycard at 1 am, just after midnight while I was trying to sleep. I was too shocked to tell whether it was a mistake or deliberate, but either way it’s unacceptable and left me questioning the hotel’s and OYO’s security. I plan to report it to the person in charge for OYO Indonesia. Before that, there were plenty of problems: the plywood walls let in all the noise from next door, so I kept waking up. There were no clean towels or toiletries in the room until I asked. The WiFi was off, and the front desk gave me the wrong ID and password before I got them to switch it on and give me the right details. The sheets had human hair and didn’t look clean, and the AC didn’t cool the room properly. The bathroom smelled bad, and the hot water was hard to control. If I could give minus five stars, I would.
