Hotel New Coklat

The rooms were full of mold, and I couldn't stay there. I left without a refund because apparently they couldn't issue one. The place felt like a horror movie, so don't be fooled by the good reviews. Some of the photos I took were so disgusting they nearly made us vomit, and I didn't post them.

Someone tried to get into my room at 8 a.m., and I checked out five minutes later. I didn't feel safe or comfortable. The toilet wouldn't flush, and at check-in they took my passport. I've traveled for ten years and stayed in more than 3,000 hotels, and this is the first time that's happened. I'm so glad I only booked one night. The room was terribly worn down, the worst I've had in all of Indonesia. It felt like a zero-star place, not three stars. The sheet looked like it had every kind of stain on it, from blood to other bodily fluids. I can't believe they didn't notice and replace it. I had to sleep on my own towel.

We ended up waiting an hour for the room because they said they had no record of our reservation and made us call Agoda customer service. The room was dirty, the sheets were dirty, there was mold on the walls, and cigarette smell was everywhere. We'd paid extra for a better room with a city view, but got a small room looking at a wall. Disappointing. I don't recommend it.

The beds were so dirty they were impossible to sleep in, and the room and shower were just as dirty. The receptionist's attitude wasn't appropriate for a hotel either.
