OYO Dupak Inn

The room itself was clean and comfortable, though I worried the corner might hurt my child's hand and should be changed. Service was good when the long-haired man and the fat man were in charge, but the woman was less responsive. I also found the room cleaner rude: when I asked for the room to be cleaned, I was told to wait while they brought instant noodles, even though it wasn't lunchtime. I was on a long trip and my child wanted to sleep, so being made to wait felt impolite.

This felt like a complete scam. We booked through Booking after looking at the property's photos. It seemed basic but at least clean, and we wanted the reservation handled there because we'd be exhausted after a 30-hour flight from Spain. When we arrived, the receptionist said they didn't work with Booking and our reservation wasn't valid. He told us to cancel and book directly at a much higher price. He also said Booking would charge us a portion if we cancelled, and that we were already past the deadline. It was late and we had nowhere else to stay, so we agreed to one night. Then we were told the basic rooms, like the one in our reservation, were sold out and we'd have to pay more for a deluxe. The room we got was tiny, windowless and dirty, with no towels or soap. It didn't even match the photos of the basic room. We ended up leaving and looking for somewhere else in the middle of the night. I'm writing this so the same thing doesn't happen to anyone else. The hotel is still listing rooms on Booking, but they use that to sell you a different price once you're there and it's already late.

A nice, comfortable place to stay in Surabaya if you're traveling on a budget. Cheap and good.

Easy to book directly through WhatsApp. The rooms are pretty nice, and both the internet and TV work well.
