Platinum Hotel Tunjungan Surabaya

I booked after seeing good reviews on Google, but my one night here was enough to know I wouldn’t stay again. Check-in itself went fine. The problems started later. When my friend dropped me off, security knocked very hard on the car while I was still inside. It felt like we were being treated as a disturbance, and it was rude. In the hallway, two housekeepers stared without greeting me, both that evening and the next morning. At breakfast, I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Two staff members greeted me when I came out of the elevator, but one looked me up and down as if I were some kind of beggar. I found that offensive and rude. I ordered a cafe latte and realized I’d left both my cash and QRIS in the room, so they offered to charge it to my room. That was fine, until I turned on the “no disturb sign.” The restaurant staff seemed to miss it and kept ringing the bell. That didn’t seem like the right procedure when a guest has put up that sign. At checkout the lobby was busy, but the reception staff weren’t very pleasant about the process, with no smiles. The elevator was also so slow it really got on my nerves. These are my personal opinions, but I hope they explain my impression of the hotel’s quality.

The hotel is in a handy spot, close to the food area, lots of cafes, and places selling Surabaya specialties and souvenirs. Our junior suite was a good size, and the bathtub had a newer style. A soak in warm water left me feeling refreshed. There were plenty of breakfast options to choose from, and the food tasted good.

The street outside is lively and felt safe for an evening stroll, with plenty of food and places to hang out. The garage parking was handy for us since we came by car, and Tunjungan Plaza and several other attractions are less than a 10-minute walk away. We were there for four days, and breakfast was good every morning. There was lots to choose from, including Western, Asian, and Indonesian dishes. Our room was clean, cozy, and well maintained, and the stay felt comfortable and easy. I consider Hotel Platinum Tunjungan one of Surabaya’s great 5-star hotels, and I’d book it again when I visit Surabaya.

Coffee shops nearby are a real plus for me, and there’s a convenience store and pickup laundry service close by too, which matters when you’re traveling with kids. The hotel is near one of Surabaya’s major malls. The parking area is small, but free valet parking takes care of that, and the diffuser in the hallway makes the walk to the room feel homey. Our room was clean, the bed was bigger than a standard single, and the toiletries were stocked. Breakfast was great, and the staff were lovely. This was my second stay, and I’d happily come back.
