Sleep Studio Hotel City Center Surabaya

The road outside is extremely busy, and with no real soundproofing around the window, motorbikes and cars kept me awake. I also found the shared bathrooms quite dirty, even though the dorm itself was reasonably clean. The location wasn't good for me. As a solo female traveller, I didn't feel safe here. The dorm door has no lock or key card, so anyone can come in. On the first night, only another girl and I were in the dorm. Some men, Muslim I presume, stared at me and made me uncomfortable as I walked to the bathroom. They were staying in the male dorm. There are regular CCTV cameras outside the dorm rooms, but inside the women's dorm there's a self-installed home security camera pointed right at the beds. I believe it's illegal to have a camera in a dorm room. They might say it's for safety, but I was very uncomfortable and had to be careful changing, especially since all the staff were men. Despite the cheap price and fairly good reviews, I'd avoid this hostel.

It cost me only about idr ~80k, so I was happy with the location and stay. It's close to ps. turi station and tunjungan plaza (10mins). The staff were nice and humble, and helped bring over the package I needed 🥺. I could check in very late, at midnight, and toiletries and bottled water were provided. The dorm was spacious, and since it's away from the main road, it wasn't noisy. Loved it!

So far, everything's been good. They let us check in really early in the morning, and the rate still counts as one night. Affordable too, and handy as a transit hotel. Recommended 👍🏻

The reception was really helpful, and you can get breakfast in the morning. Nice hotel, and I feel the money was well spent. Thank you.
