The public areas look polished, from the lobby and lounges to the amenities and dining room, so I expected the guest room to be kept to the same standard. It was shockingly dirty. Brown grime from what looked like hundreds of fingerprints covered the walls and switches, and the bathroom had a film that suggested it hadn't been scrubbed in a while. For what they charge, the rooms should be maintained properly. The place feels misleading and overpriced.

The VIP room was ordinary, and the food was basic with very little variety. We also had a bad experience at the front desk: the receptionist was impolite and refused to give us two keys, even after we explained that my husband and I had separate plans. He only handed over the second key after my husband got angry. We picked the wrong hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.

Room 103 needs a lot of work. The walls looked worn and only partly painted, and one of the wall lamps was broken and still hadn't been repaired. After housekeeping cleaned the room, there was only one towel instead of the two I had been given, even though I paid the full rate. The hot shower was another hassle: I had to wait 15 minutes and let a lot of water run before bathing. The water heater's power cable was too short to reach any outlet in the room, so I had to carry it all the way to reception, and they wouldn't give me an extension cord. You'll have to see the rest for yourself.

Takengon is known for Gayo coffee, but I didn't like the coffee served at the hotel. Breakfast wasn't much fun either, with lots of NASI and NASI GORENG. There is no air conditioning, and you may want to have cash ready for the bill in case the card machine doesn't work. Still, this is the best hotel you can get in Takengon.

The hotel is right in central Takengon, which makes getting to nearby sights easy. Masjid Ruhama (Takengon Grand Mosque) is about 5 minutes away, Bur Gayo Mountain takes around 15 minutes, and One-One is 20-30 minutes away. One-One, pronounced O-ne o-ne, is known for Gayonese traditional food.
