Parkside Gayo Petro Hotel - Takengon

The reception staff were really helpful. Breakfast was very good, and the coffee was good too, for obvious reasons. Nice hotel. Thanks!

If you don't speak Bahasa or a local language, this is probably the best place to stay in Takengon as a foreigner. Lots of the staff speak English, and everyone was friendly and helpful. They made my stay easy and enjoyable. Mantap! Thanks so much, Parkside!

The AC and phone in my room didn't work, and although I'd booked a non-smoking room, they put me in a smoking one. When I asked to move, they offered to spray perfume instead and brushed off my complaint. The receptionist was very rude and sarcastic. They seemed friendly to "bule" but not to local people. This was an awful stay, and the service doesn't even deserve one star. Shame on you, Parkside Hotel. My Bule friend will remember how badly you treated me. We stayed at ParkSide at the start of August 2022. Since the hotel opened in 2021, it was brand new when we visited. Our room, 531, was spacious and comfortable, with an amazing mountain view. The lobby was beautiful, decorated with local ornaments, and the rooftop had a lovely panorama of the lake and surrounding mountains. The restaurant was nicely decorated too. We ate dinner there twice, and both the food and drinks were high quality, with a good mix of Western and Eastern dishes. Breakfast brought something different each morning, which was a fun surprise. There were plenty of delicious Eastern options, as you'd expect in Asia, along with quite a few Western dishes. The chef did a great job, and we learned he'd worked in a few countries abroad. Staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. Whenever we needed something changed in the room, they responded quickly. We felt at home each time we came in, and our elderly mother was comfortable throughout the stay. For us, ParkSide is the best hotel choice in Takengon. If we come back to this beautiful city, we'll definitely stay here again. Other hotels could learn from this place.
