Bening Asri Guesthouse

The rooms were pretty clean, but getting to them means going up to the third floor. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and the Wi-Fi was slow. There was smoke throughout the lobby, and the walls are so thin you can hear everything outside. I’d guess there are better places to stay.

I booked this for an overnight stop before an early flight from Soekarno-Hatta Airport. It’s in a shophouse on the third floor, right above Indomaret Bening, which is handy for a quick stop. The room was decent for a nap and the AC cooled well, but there were so many mosquitoes that I barely slept and my lips got bitten all night. The TV is small, and being near a warehouse meant some noise at night. Check-in and checkout were uncomfortable with cigarette smoke filling the reception area. The location works well for transit, but the room and shared areas still need better cleanliness and mosquito control.

The internet was so slow I couldn’t work or make a video call, and there was just one outlet, awkwardly placed beside the bed. I also found the sheets dirty, the pillow smelled awful even after its case was changed, and there were no wardrobe hangers. The ceiling light was held up with tape, and dirt on the wall seemed to move when there was a breeze. There’s no sink, so even handwashing means using the shower, and there was no toilet paper either. Staff didn’t speak good English, they smoked in the common room, and the whole place smelled like tobacco. In the main room, people were lying on the floor asleep or staring at their phones. It was shocking, and for this price I felt ripped off. I stayed at Bening Asri Guesthouse near Jakarta airport and regret it. I honestly don’t get the good rating. I felt cheated and wouldn’t recommend it.
