Mercure Tangerang Centre

We never actually stayed at this hotel, but we'll remember how the front desk handled our last-minute trip to Jakarta. They canceled our entire reservation without charge, then offered us a meal at the restaurant. We also had a good time playing pool. Amazing hotel!

I booked through trip.com and specifically requested a smoking room. I called the hotel from Singapore the day before my trip, and staff said one would be ready when I arrived. At check-in, the front desk girl also confirmed I had been assigned one. But I was quietly given a non-smoking room, [715]. The phone in the room didn't work when I tried to call reception about it. I had to go downstairs again. This time, I was told no smoking rooms were available and I had no choice but to stay in a non-smoking room. I asked why I hadn't been told through trip.com or at the counter, but got no reply. I was asked to take a smoking Junior Suite, room 1103, and pay 400 000. It wasn't until the next day that I got the room I had paid for, 1112. These small mistakes don't meet Accor standards. Please look into this. The hotel offered no service recovery. To be fair, I've stayed here many times before, and this is the first time I've had this situation.

Dini was so friendly, checked in on us a few times, and welcomed our feedback, which made breakfast even better. The dining area was clean and comfortable. There was plenty to choose from, Indonesian food to Western dishes, and everything tasted fresh and was replenished well. A solid start to the day at Mercure Tangerang City.

The front office service and room cleanliness were OK, but the towel didn't absorb well. Maybe its cotton percentage needs checking, or it had too much softener. Breakfast was below standard. Refilling the food took a long time, with sausages taking more than 20 minutes. The coffee machine was dirty, changing the coffee grounds tank took time, and setting up a table for new guests was slow. The Exc. Chef and a restaurant supervisor or manager were there, but service didn't pick up. One girl handled both live stations, eggs and noodles. It could have gone better with two staff members, or with the Exc. Chef helping out. I've stayed at Mercure Gatot Subroto, where service was much better. I'm not comparing the buffet or menu, just the service.
