Sans Pasar Lama Tangerang

The location works really well for food and getting around, with the train station and pasar lama culinary market nearby. There's no meal included, but it was easy to find food. At about 200k rupiah per night, I thought it was worth the price. The small room was comfortable, though it had no window. The smart TV's Netflix accounts actually worked, and the bathroom and shower were clean. Towels and soap were there, and you could ask for things like a toothbrush. They also offer late checkout for up to 90k, even though I couldn't find it listed on booking apps, which was handy for a business stay. A couple of downsides: there are only stairs, no elevator, and the thin walls let traffic noise through. Still giving it five stars for the value.

Pasar Lama Tangerang's food spots are just a few steps away, and the room was clean and inexpensive. I booked a deluxe room. It wasn't spacious, but felt worth the price. The building has 3 floors. One thing to watch for: even non-smoking rooms can smell of cigarette smoke. The first available deluxe non-smoking room had that smell, so I asked to switch.

The hotel is handy for getting around by public transport, with buses nearby and the KRL station close by, one of the reasons I picked it. It also works well for food and history outings. The Tangerang Old Market is nearby, with Pasar Lama Culinary Night around there in the evenings. You can find local Peranakan food such as Laksa Benteng, Kecap Benteng, Asinan Lan Jin, Ice Bun Tin Shop, Porridge and Hokie Crab Noodles, plus newer options at Culinary Night like Korean Fish Cake, Jumbo Crepes, and Snake Sate. For history and Peranakan culture, there's the Benteng Heritage Museum, a private museum with cultural artifacts, as well as Boen Tek Bio Temple, latrine ladders, ROEMBOER – Ronggeng Stairs, and Tangerang Hall not far away. I chose Sans Hotel Pasar Lama Tangerang because it was very close to the Peh Cun festival. The building may suit younger guests better, since there's no elevator and upper floors are reached by stairs, though you can discuss that at check-in. The rooms are also tight, which makes it tricky for Muslim travelers to pray. I'd suggest praying at the Great Mosque of Al - Ittihad Tangerang City nearby.

It was awful, with noise everywhere, a dark, dirty room, no trash bin, and barely any water. The service was horrible and it wasn't comfortable. Way too expensive for such a terrible place to stay. Don't come here if you want a good night's sleep.
