El Rio Alun-Alun Tegal by Sajiwa

The square in Tegal is right across from the property, and its location feels especially lively from afternoon into the evening, with a night market and plenty of snacks. The stay itself was disappointing, though. The tiles looked dirty, and the bed seemed to have sand in the mattress. The towels felt used and smelled really musty, as if perfume had just been sprayed on them. The toilet hose leaks, and there's nowhere in the bathroom to hang clothes. It feels like the place isn't being looked after. What a shame.

The lobby and hallway often look dirty when I visit, and cigarette butts are regularly left at the room reception desk. It's uncomfortable to see. Maybe they need more cleaning staff so the yard can be kept clear of all that plastic rubbish too. I usually stay in the comfort type when the rooms are clean.

The rooms were tidy and clean, with working hot water and air conditioning, plus liquid soap in a dispenser. It's also close to Tegal City Square and Tegal Station, and the rates are affordable. A few things could be better: the front desk staff weren't very friendly or engaging, the towels didn't soak up water well, and the window in room 119 wouldn't lock properly.

It's close to the station and town square, so a good spot to rest with everything nearby. The place was clean, and the guest service was good.
