Stanagiri Villas Ubud

We spent 3 days and 2 nights here, away from Ubud's tourist crowds. It's a real retreat for anyone wanting a quiet, laid-back break. The living room has no air conditioning, but the breeze coming through made that fine for me. Our bedrooms were roomy and clean, with all the basics, though body lotion would be a useful addition. With three bedrooms, it works well for a family or group. It's also about a 20-minute drive to the sunrise view at Kintamani. Once the restaurant construction is finished, this could be the best five-star getaway.

Stanagiri has a luxurious interior, and the butler service made a real difference. The staff were attentive, accommodating, and went out of their way to keep us comfortable. I loved swimming up to the lounge table and dining with the rice fields in view. It was a peaceful setting, and the poolside meal felt like something different. The views brought a lovely natural touch to the experience. Water and electricity could be more reliable, which would make the stay smoother. Even so, I'd recommend Stanagiri for a distinctive, luxurious getaway with great views and caring service.

The quiet here was exactly what I wanted. There was no traffic noise, and at night, with clear skies and cool air, I could hear frogs and crickets softly in the distance. It made for a wonderful rest, and I can see why the villa is tucked away. From the street, the place is hard to spot. But the private road leading to it has lovely gardens, and a big wooden door separates the villa from the road like the entrance to a private home. Inside, the living room is spacious, with a pool behind it overlooking green rice fields and coconut trees. Three of us stayed for two days. I had the upstairs bedroom, which was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious too. Green rice fields were visible from every window, and looking out at them helped me relax.

We went for a birthday and emailed ahead with a special request, but got no reply. I asked the staff again at check-in and they said they couldn't help. The only thing in our room was two tangerines with worms in them. A really awful, regrettable stay. The place is old villas with damp walls, in an inconvenient spot far from everything. It doesn't feel luxurious or like a retreat, and there isn't even a spa or any facilities. Avoid staying here.
