There were cockroaches on our bed, and the place felt unclean despite looking shiny from outside. The small, dingy room smelled strongly of smoke, with yellow wallpaper and a dirty floor. The bathroom vent was unbelievably loud, like a dying horse.

We weren't told or given a choice about being put in a smoking room, and the cigarette smell stayed the whole time. The room itself was run down despite the decent appearance, with odd water damage marks on the wall, some dead lights, and cockroaches on the mattresses.

The reception staff were extremely helpful, and the room was adequate, not too small. The hotel has a minimalist look and seemed clean, with a new exterior, though it feels like a shophouse converted into a hotel. Even the elevator couldn't handle four big guys like us. Don't expect much from breakfast.

It's easy to walk from here to the city center and tourist spots. The service was good too, and they were happy to help when I asked how to explore Ternate. They suggested renting a motorcycle with a driver, or ojek. A nice hotel in Ternate.

Jatiland Mall and the Ternate landmark are about a 10 minute walk away. The room was standard sized and clean, with working AC and free Wi-Fi. The bathroom had a hot water shower and shower kit.
