The room was lovely, but the receptionist’s attitude bothered me. I checked in at 5 in the afternoon and couldn’t go straight to my room because it was still being cleaned. That part was fine, but her tone made me uncomfortable.
The location is great, close to both the airport and seaport. The room isn’t very spacious, but it’s clean and has standard amenities. There’s no elevator, so you might want to ask for a downstairs or ground-floor room. You get what you pay for, and it’s worth the money. 3.5 for everything.
The free coffee, including black coffee and luwak white coffee, and tea are available whenever you want. I also liked being so close to Falajawa Beach, where I could go swimming whenever I felt like it. The hotel is one of Ternate’s oldest, and its exterior hasn’t improved much, so it’s no surprise some drivers questioned our choice to stay there. For the price, and sometimes even above it, the bathroom is the best part, with great running water and a fast water heater.
The staff are nice, and being near the city is the main plus. But it’s an old building, and breakfast feels very basic for the price. There was no room kit like sandals, bathing kit, or tissue. The window doesn’t open, just a ventilation opening, so the AC doesn’t cool the room well. I also had to ask for Wi-Fi every day. Needs more improvement.
I’m not sure how this place got a 3-star rating. It feels more like a motel than a hotel, and the AC didn’t work at all. They only provided hand soap, with no body soap or shampoo. It also has a bad reputation.
