I felt at home here, and the staff were so kind when I had a scooter accident during my stay. They took care of me straight away. It's a humble homestay full of genuine people who are ready to help with anything. Eja drove me from the hospital, and Heruu and Vandini were lovely too. Thanks to all of you. We appreciated how hard they tried to give attentive service, but the stay had some issues. The water supply was intermittent and inconvenient. We also weren't convinced the village tour was worth 400,000. We expected that fee to cover payment for the artisans demonstrating pottery, weaving, and bamboo work, but then we were asked for an extra donation, so it wasn't clear where the money went. The guide's navigation didn't add much for us, since digital tools could have done the same job. Overall, we weren't very satisfied.

The family made a real effort to share their culture, welcome us, and spend time chatting, which made our three-night stay the highlight of the trip so far. They also gave us lots of ideas for outings, from mountains and waterfalls to cooking classes, tobacco trips, pottery, and traditional villages, and helped arrange transport for our onward journey. As we headed back to Bali, they gave us traditional snacks for the trip and a spice blend for making Indonesian curry at home. Our room was clean and comfortable. Tetebatu is cooler than other parts of Lombok, so not having air conditioning didn't matter. Breakfast was included and delicious, and they made it spicy on request, just how I liked it. The family took such good care of me and were incredibly helpful. I've rarely had support this good, and the breakfast was top notch. My room was very clean, and the location was beautiful, with a small waterfall and rice fields just a short trip away. It's a little farther out than most homestays, but there are small shops right next door. It's in a Muslim area, so you can hear the mosque clearly, as other reviews mentioned. That's part of the local culture. The shower only has cold water, which is normal here. I stayed two nights and can absolutely recommend it.
