Casa Blanca

The villa has a lot going for it in terms of design and size, but cleanliness and basic upkeep made our stay impossible to enjoy. The route in is unpleasant too, with open drains along the way, so I can’t recommend it. I’ve attached photos to show what we encountered. We found dirty, unhygienic linens and a sofa in the living room right after arriving. There was a damp, foul smell around the house, musty bedrooms with visible mould, and insects everywhere. I even spotted a lizard in the utensils cabinet. The worst thing was seeing housekeeping use guest towels to clean pigeon droppings. One room’s health faucet didn’t work. When we told the owner, he said he’d get it fixed the next day, even though we were staying for just two nights. Nobody came to repair it, so we handled it ourselves.

We booked five nights but left after the first one, and got neither a refund nor help. The rooms smelled horribly of mould, the beds were dirty, and bugs got in through large gaps. I know Bali has bugs, but these openings made it easy for them to come inside at night. I’m a builder, and the smell seemed like mould growing in the rooms. The villa is about a 20-minute drive from the main part of Canggu. My wife is pregnant and couldn’t ride a bike, and not many cars would accept a trip there. I’ve attached two photos, one showing a gap in the room and another showing mould on the ceiling. I have more photos, but those considering a stay will get the idea.

The hosts were lovely, and the villa was spotless. We tried the floating breakfast too, and it was yummy. The Moroccan touches were beautiful, and I loved how cozy the sunken living room felt.
