Dip & Doze Boutique Hostel

The location worked well, though Grab pickup can be confusing: twice the GPS sent the driver to an alley instead of the main entrance. Walking about 15-20 steps to the alley between Secret Garden and Luka by Suka made pickup easier. A couple of little things could improve the stay too: guests could be reminded to dry wet towels outside, since the rooms sometimes smelled musty, and the fridge could be colder because beers warmed up quickly in Bali's heat. I stayed three nights and had a great time. The place was clean, with daily room cleaning and tidy shared areas. My room was comfortable and roomy, with air-con, a ceiling fan, a locker, and a reading light and universal plug at each bunk. The towel and padlock were provided after a small deposit, and check-in was quick and easy. The atmosphere was relaxed, a nice place to hang out after a day in Canggu, with drinks available for hot or rainy afternoons. The staff were the best part for me. Everyone was friendly, smiling, and quick to help. Ryan, Devi, Reza, and Kin were especially lovely, professional people, and by the end I felt like I'd made friends. Thanks for making me feel at home. I'd stay at Dip & Doze again.

Be careful with your card and your money at Hotel Dip and Doze. I was charged after leaving for reasons that seemed random or made up, despite having paid a security deposit at check-in. When I tried to get in touch, they ignored me or gave vague explanations that didn't make sense. The team came across as dishonest and unprofessional, and dealing with it took time and energy to try to get my own money back. There are plenty of other hotels around, so I wouldn't risk staying here.

I chose this hostel for the location and because I wanted somewhere I could actually sleep, rather than a party hostel. Finns club is within walking distance if you do want to party, and Grab rides to other nearby clubs are cheap. The pool has a calm feel, even if you don't swim. You can sit by it with a book or do morning yoga. There’s also a community kitchen, free water refills, and tea and coffee. Bathrooms are outside the rooms. The beds were comfortable, with privacy curtains, a charging socket, and a light. A towel and locker padlock come with a security deposit, and the staff were welcoming and smiley. I really liked staying here and would come back on my next vacation. Just know that it isn't a party hostel.

Being in the center of Berawa made it easy to walk to shops, cafes, restaurants, the supermarket, beach clubs, and convenience stores. I even walked from Berawa beach to Echo Beach and back. The pool was great, and there was free hot and cold water, coffee and tea, pastries, and permission for light cooking and outside food. The toilet and shower were clean, as was the room. My upper bunk was a bit annoying, though, because the wooden steps squeaked whenever I climbed up or down. The keyless touchpad entry was also frustrating.
