The showers were clean, with good pressure and hot water, and the rest of the facilities were clean too. Beds were really comfortable, and the curtains gave me plenty of privacy, so I slept well. There’s a nice shared area and a rooftop pool. It’s close to old men’s, pretty poison, and the beach, and you can rent good scooters. Definitely one of the best hostel stays.

I’m genuinely sad to see this. I had a great time here in 2019, with excellent service and a hostel that brought good people together. The rooftop common area was great for a house party, and I had so much fun. Then in 2022 I walked past and it seemed to be closed. Does anyone know what happened to the hostel?

The Escape hostel was one of my favorite places in South Bali. Canggu has lots of great restaurants around it, just a quick 10-minute walk away. The rooms are laid out like long hallways, with each bed in its own cube. Upstairs there’s an open lounge with a pool table, bar, and infinity pool. Such a relaxed spot, and I’d recommend it if you’re nearby and after a chill time.

The sleep was a real problem. On both of my nights, drunk teenagers came into the dorm around 2-3 am, switched on the lights, and shouted. Earplugs didn’t help, and the rooftop bar music went on well past midnight. If you’ve spent the day surfing and want a good night’s sleep, stay somewhere else. A bit of partying is fine, but they need to turn the noise down after midnight. Other party hostels manage it. There’s a lot to like here: clean Japanese-style sleeping pods, nice showers, and a great rooftop pool for sunsets. It’s good value for what you get, though about a 10-minute walk from the beach. Breakfast is just toast, and the AC is too cold. This place has plenty of potential.

The staff were friendly and kept working consistently even on Bali’s Nyepi, or Silent Day. I really appreciated their dedication, and they shared some food with me since I hadn’t stocked up for the day. There’s a communal kitchen with a fridge everyone can use. Hygiene was okay. The staff did their best to clean regularly, though cleanliness standards could be improved. Overall, it was decent.
