I was there a week ago, and the atmosphere was great. I’d read older reviews, but it seems like a lot has changed. They clean for bed bugs once a week, there’s a kitchen, and there isn’t an annoying security guy. The whole staff handles security, and they’re really chill.
I felt really disappointed by the security here. Because I'm local, I wasn't allowed to visit my friend who was staying at the hostel. I hadn't seen the security guard at the gate, and afterward he told me that if anything went missing or happened at the hostel, it would all be my fault. I was planning to have friends from Jakarta stay here tomorrow, but after this, I changed my mind. Are Indonesians not allowed to visit, even just to hang out with a friend who lives there? Is this hostel only for tourists, or bule?
Bedbugs in every room. I ended up with over 100 bites, and my arms and back are still itching like crazy three days later. They wouldn't even offer me a refund. I really wanted to like this hostel, but I absolutely don't recommend it.
The Temple has a great hostel atmosphere, but the staff were barely around and weren't very helpful. A few people also had bedbugs.
The building is really cool, and having a pool is a big plus. It's a good hostel with a relaxed, casual feel.
