Grand Tembaga Hotel

The employees are wonderful, and the rooms and bathrooms are nice for a hotel in a smaller city. I’ve stayed here a few times for work, and the location is convenient, about 20 minutes from the airport. The rooms have now been renovated, and there’s a small pool in front of the restaurant. Breakfast usually has Indonesian options, though I haven’t tried room service. Phone coverage is very limited: Telkomsel works well, but other providers don’t. The Wi-Fi is so bad that I had to sit by the entrance door for hours to get a better connection. If you don’t use Tsel, you may want to switch providers temporarily.

The restaurant is reasonably priced, and the buffet breakfast was okay. Rooms were clean and good, though the mosque speakers are quite close on one side. It’s a large hotel and restaurant, but the price is on the high side.

The pool is a nice place to relax, and there’s a small bar there. The restaurant is quite good. Rooms in this older hotel are reasonably good, though some show wear and tear. Staff are helpful.

For this part of Papua, it’s an excellent place to stay. It’s near the Freeport office and not too far from the airport. The food is good, especially the seafood, and there’s a restaurant and swimming pool. Rooms have hot water, air conditioning, comfortable beds, and a TV. It’s a good hotel in Timika, though it wouldn’t be five-star compared with Jakarta.
