The hotel Mustika doesn’t seem ready for foreign tourism, in my opinion. The breakfast room is quite elegant, though the food choices are limited. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but there was no butter, only local palm oil margarine. Online photos don’t show the hotel’s real size and are probably photoshopped. The rooms smell of the disinfectant balls used in some Asian bathrooms. The pillows look clean on the outside, but underneath the covers they’re yellow. The pools look clean and almost resort-like, but some local guests started swimming at 5:30 am and were extremely loud. There was no pool attendant. People spitting mucus into the pool seemed to be tolerated, which was disgusting. Do they realize they’re sharing it with others? At other hotels, pools usually don’t open until around 9 am and have some kind of attendant.

The staff were kind, and breakfast was a good part of the stay. Beyond that, I was disappointed: the room had mosquitoes everywhere, the AC didn’t cool, the toilet was dirty, and the lighting was poor. From the outside, this might look like the best hotel in Tuban, but the room was a different story.

I checked in last night and didn’t order room service, yet my pillow had chili sauce on the dirty underside. It looked clean on top, but I don’t think they’d changed either the bedsheet or the pillowcase. The room itself was great, which made this especially disappointing.

The location is handy, with lots of food places along the north coast road and the beach also running along that road. The hotel itself is just OK for a Tuban stay. Its facilities aren’t very good, and breakfast doesn’t offer much variety.

One of the better hotels in Tuban. The hospitality was OK, and the room wasn’t very clean, though you can ask housekeeping to clean it. Breakfast was just so-so.
