We spent my partner’s birthday here, and the staff made it work really well. They were attentive, smiling, quick to respond, and stayed connected by walkie-talkie. The buildings have amazing designs, and the place felt truly special. The hotel restaurant was lackluster for us, but there are plenty of good food options nearby, so it wasn’t a problem.

We can’t comment on the accommodation, but the restaurant was one of the two best we tried on the island. The Black Peper Chicken was the standout. Five stars for the food.

We had comfortable beds, and breakfast was good. The restaurant also has a nice lake view, as do the spectacular views around the hotel. Prices are very reasonable, so it’s a great deal for the money. There were lots of ants near my room’s front door during our stay. They sent someone to spray them with chemicals, which helped. I highly recommend staying here.

The rooms were ok and the hotel is well placed, but the food was really disgusting. The Indonesian breakfast had no taste. One evening I ordered a green salad and couldn’t eat even a bite. It also took ages to get food or even a single coffee.

The comfortable rooms have distinctive Batak-style decorations, and the setting is peaceful, with green gardens and lovely views of the lake. Carolina Resort is one of my favorite places to stay when I visit Lake Toba. I think it suits families, nature lovers, and anyone after a quiet, scenic vacation spot. I’d recommend it to travelers wanting to enjoy the natural surroundings and local culture.
